We launched the project known as Culturally Relevant Crops for our Communities (CRCC), during which we conducted surveys to gather recommendations from culturally diverse groups about the types of crops they desired to see local farmers grow in Victoria.

The Palenke Produce Box (PPB) Initiative is a farm-fresh food box program sourced locally from Vancouver Island-based offering free fresh produce bi-weekly. This initiative is aimed at supporting our communities’ access to nutritious, fresh, and delicious food while also re-invigorating our connection to the lands we live on, our relationship to where our food is grown, the resilience of our communities, and the vitality of our bodies.

At the end of 2020 Iyé received funding from the Victoria Foundation Community Recovery Program (CRP) to carry out community-based research on how food insecurity impacts Black communities in Victoria have been increased by Covid-19 pandemic. 

At Iyé, we are dedicated to making fresh, locally sourced food accessible to all in our diverse community, including newcomers, Indigenous, Black, People of Color (IBPOC), gender diverse individuals, and people with disabilities facing barriers to fresh, nutrient-dense and locally grown food in our region.
